The Giving Challenge works as follows:

1. A donor pledges to give one or more of their friends and family $1,000 each to better someone else's life. If you want to be a donor, get involved.

2. The recipient of the $1,000 receives our package containing the rules of the Challenge- including instructions to videotape their experience. They also receive a copy of the Oprah episode featuring the results of her challenge, tips for creative giving, and a $1,000 check.

3. Each recipient of $1,000 is required to give away the money within one week. After this deadline, they send us the video of their experience and we post it on this website.

4. The world is a better place.
